Frequently
Asked Questions

What is Mayz and what makes it different from other social apps?
Mayz is designed to foster genuine off-line human connection through shared meals and meaningful conversations. Unlike typical social media platforms focused on quick interactions, Mayz encourages slow, intentional gatherings where participants engage deeply around universal themes—building trust and empathy across diverse communities.
How does it work?
You choose the time and place, pick what needs to be brought to the table; invite a friend and they get to bring someone new. Together, you curate the experience — the food, the vibe, the conversations. [We are currently running this connection model and will iterate based on the pilots]
How does Mayz help combat loneliness?
Loneliness is a growing pandemic affecting all ages, especially Gen Z and Baby Boomers. Mayz creates structured yet flexible opportunities that connects neighbors, travelers or folks with similar interests, over food. This guided approach reduces social anxiety and helps people form authentic bonds rather than superficial contacts.
Do I need to know how to host events?
Not at all! If you can set a table, play some good music and can make your guest feel welcome you can host with Mayz. We’ll share ideas and conversation starters.
Is this a social club or a networking group?
Neither. Mayz is simply about creating safe spaces where strangers can become friends — without pressure, pitches, or agendas.
How do I join?
Sign up for our waitlist and we’ll invite you to our early adapters hosts group or attend or host a gathering near you.
Is there a cost involved?
Currently, joining Mayz is free — just bring an open heart and a dish to share.

"I almost canceled the first dinner because I was nervous — I didn’t know half the people. But it turned out to be the best night I’ve had in a long time. We laughed, we stayed way longer than planned… now it’s a regular thing."

"Honestly, I thought it would be awkward. It wasn’t. Within 10 minutes, we were swapping stories about our worst first jobs. Mayz reminded me how easy it can be to connect when you just sit down and talk."

"“My friend brought her neighbor, who brought her cousin… and suddenly I had this little community of people I never would’ve met. I didn’t realize how much I missed that until Mayz."

"I’ve been to my fair share of ‘networking events’ — this wasn’t that. No small talk, no name tags. Just real people, real conversations, and the kind of night you wish happened more often."
